Kenya Storm to Men’s and Women’s Podium Lockout in New YorkKenyan Marathon runners showcased their dominance in New York on Sunday as they claimed a 1-2-3 in both the Men’s and Women’s Races. 2023 winner Helen Obiri took home the title and her fourth Major Marathon title in a course record and personal best time of 2:19:51 with half marathon splits of 71:01 and 68:50. The effort bettered that of Margaret Okayo’s 2003 course record of 2:22:31. Boston champion Sharon Lokedi came home in second (2:20:07) with last year's champion Sheila Chepkiriu rounding out the podium (2:20:07). The top Americans came home in fourth and fifth with Fiona O’Keefe crossing the line in 2:22:49 (71:02/71:47) and Annie Frisbie running a PB of 2:24:12. Olympic champion Siffan Hissan recorded her lowest marathon finish to date in sixth (2:22:49) with Britain's Jess Warner-Judd coming home in seventh on her marathon debut (2:24:45) the Briton has made the step up to 26.2 miles following a transition from cross country to middle distance earlier on in her career which saw her compete at the Tokyo Olympics and finish fourth in the 800m at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. In the men’s race it was Benson Kipruto (2:08:09) who crossed the line first in a dramatic sprint finish holding off Alexander Mutiso by just 0.03s. Former champion Albert Korir completed the Kenyan podium lockout. Brit Patrick Dever came home in fourth after a spirited effort that saw him keep pace with the Kenyans through the first half of the race. 2x Olympian Dever was making his marathon debut and ran an impressive split of 65:19/63:39. Multi World Orienteering champion Matthis Kyburz crossed in fifth (2:09:59) just ahead of the first American finisher Joel Reicher (2:09:56 PB) In what is set to be his final major marathon Eluid Kipchoge came home in 17th (2:14:36) via New York Road Runners
Keith, Wightman, and Gourley Announced in Glasgow 2026 Pre-SelectionTeam Scotland have officially announced the first three athletes that will compete in next summers Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2022 1500m World Champion Jake Wightman, who made a remarkable comeback from injury to take silver in this years World Championships will be joined by 2024 World Indoor Silver Medalist Neil Gourley as they take on the Commonwealth Mile, which will replace the 1500m, as it returns for the first time since the Kingston games of 1966. 3X Euro Cross Country age grade Champion and European Bronze medalist Megan Keith will make her Commonwealth Debut over 10,000m on the opening night of the Athletics programme at Scotstoun Stadium on July 27th 2026. via Team Scotland
Eluid Kipchoge World Tour AnnnouncedEliud Kipchoge has announced the launch of the Eliud Kipchoge World Tour The unprecedented two-year journey will see the two time Olympic champion compete in marathons on all seven continents, while continuing to race at the elite level. This project aims to inspire the world to become a running world while raising funds for the Eliud Kipchoge Foundation in support of education and environmental causes worldwide. “Running is the most universal sport, it connects us all,” says Kipchoge. “With this project, I want to compete not only for records, but for the people. I want to continue to push myself to run at my best but I also want to inspire, give back, and remind everyone that no human is limited. I believe that we can all come together and become a better world.” It is the first activation under the project Eliud´s Running World.
