UK Athletics has today confirmed the 59 athletes that will be representing Great Britain and Northern Ireland at this year's European Athletics U20 Championships in Tampere Finland.

UKA specify that athletes have been selected with the aim to maximise top-eight placings as well as providing 4x100m runners with key preparation before the step up to senior championships.

Innes Fitzgerald, who recently broke the U20 5000m record at the London Diamond League, headlines the list as she participates in the 3000m where she will toe the line alongside Isla McGowan and Zoe Gilbody and the 5000m where this years English Schools Senior Girls Cross Country Champion Katie Pye will line up alongside. Fitzgerals has also pulled on a senior GB vest this season taking to the track at the European indoor championships in Apeldoorn.

She will be joined by Charlotte Henrich who also raised eyebrows at the London Diamond league with a personal best time of 51.95 in a 400m domestic race.

Noah Hanson of Essex Beagles currently ranks number one in Europe for 110m Hurdles, he will be joined by last years world u20 silver medalist Jake Odey-Jordan in the 200m.

GB head into both the men’s and women’s 100m with the second naked athletes as Teddy Wilson of Shaftesbury Barnet and Mabel Akande of Lincoln Wellington will also line up in relays teams set to push for British Records.
